Indah Kengne
Nominated for Child of Courage sponsored by IQVIA
A young girl who lost the ability to walk, talk and even eat after a series of severe seizures is fighting her way back to health.
Despite her disabilities, Indah Kengne, who has been put forward for a Child of Courage award,
“does everything with a smile on her face,” according to her nominator.
“She is the most brave, incredible, strongest, sweetest little girl you could ever meet,” they added.
Indah was born healthy and started having seizures at 10 months old. The seizures require intensive care admission and last 45 minutes to an hour.
“After every admission she has fought and shown so much strength – she has learned things they never thought she could,” said her nominator, who added Indah graduated from nursery a year before expected.
“Sadly Indah had another seizure in November that left her brain damaged,” they added. She spent four months in hospital under rehabilitation after she lost the ability to walk, talk, sit up, and eat.
In the past few months she has started to crawl and is now taking steps, and learned to wave, sit up, and eat without a tube.
“I’m so proud of all she has faced and overcome,” said her nominator.
The Child of Courage award, sponsored by IQVIA, recognises a young person’s courage. Some become heroic lifesavers; others demonstrate courage through battling illness or other difficult circumstances.
