Walk Works

Nominated for The Chris Tarrant Award sponsored by The Oracle

Liz Bradbury and Caroline Gratrix

A business which promotes walking as a route to good mental health and wellbeing has been nominated for The Chris Tarrant Award, sponsored by The Oracle shopping centre.

The nomination said of Walk Works owners Caroline Gratrix and Liz Bradbury “they bring so much to the local community – individuals, organisations and businesses alike, whilst championing 'local' by finding the most beautiful walks (suitable for all abilities) in our area, showcasing the beauty of Reading and the surrounding areas.”

The pair run a Wednesday Wellbeing walk every week, starting in Reading town centre, to encourage people to take some time away from their desk.

The nominator said this provides “a fantastic opportunity to network and connect whilst being out in nature.”

The firm organises walks around business hub Green Park; “championing health, wellbeing and networking for the thousands of people who work there.”

Walk Works also puts together corporate/team events and walks to support team cohesion.

“Caroline and Liz always go the extra mile to make sure everyone who joins them is looked after and can participate fully, amending routes and finding alternatives to cater for all access needs and abilities,” added the nominator.

The Chris Tarrant Award celebrates someone who lives or works in Reading who deserves special recognition.
