Members of Share Shinfield
A group set up to help those struggling to buy food have been nominated as Volunteers of the Year for going above and beyond.
Share Shinfield is part of the Share Wokingham charity, making surplus food from supermarkets available for local people to come and collect, combatting food waste, as well as helping those that might otherwise struggle to afford their weekly shop.
Their nominator said: “For over a year now this team of volunteers have helped so many not just with food but with support, a listening ear when needed and so much more.
“Without Share Shinfield and their team a lot of people would go without everyday items.”
Share Shinfield is run by the team from Helping Hands Shinfield and Spencer's Wood, Shinfield Baptist Church and community volunteers. The Volunteers of the Year award is sponsored by funeral directors A.B. Walker and salutes an individual or team engaged in diverse and challenging tasks, or simply who have stepped up when needed to help others.
