Kings Academy
Nominated for School of the Year sponsored by Qwerty
A secondary school in Cockney Hill graded as 'Outstanding' for leadership and management, has been nominated for the School of the Year Award, sponsored by QWERTY.
Kings Academy Prospect (KAP) provides an exceptionally high standard of education for all its students, who are easily recognisable in Tilehurst and the west of Reading due to their highly distinctive uniform which they wear with great pride, said the nominator.
Following three ‘Requires Improvement’ Ofsted reports since 2016, the school was reinspected in October 2022 and judged 'Good' in all areas, except leadership and management, where they were judged 'Outstanding'.
Numbers at the school have grown by 15 per cent in the last year. September 2023 will see the largest Year 6 intake for many years, making Kings Academy Prospect the second largest school in Reading.
The school’s nominator added: “Staff and students are extremely happy at the school, where well-being for all is a priority, and the safeguarding of students is paramount. In particular, the support the school provides for refugee, asylum seeker and students with English as an additional language should be noted.
“The school and especially its leadership team deserve to be recognised for the huge improvements, high quality of education and overall positive impact that the school provides for the young people of Reading.”
