A PCSO who is about to retire has been praised for his work with the deaf community.
Stephen Smith has been one of the most hard-working PCSOs in Reading town centre according to his nominator for the Local Hero award, sponsored by Green Park.
”He has taken time to learn about other charities but his passion has been with the deaf community,” they said.
“He is always making sure that the deaf community get support. We have seen him at many events, always representing the police but with his dual hat for the deaf community.”
The nominating origination Support U said they knew they could reach out to him they had an LGBT+ person who was deaf and needed support.
“He's been there for everyone in the Reading community. It would be nice to make sure he gets recognition before he retires in April next year,” they said.
