Our next nominee for an Inspiration Award, sponsored by McDonalds is Matt Whitelock.
Reading lad Matt, performed on Reading stages in his youth with such companies as Reading Youth Theatre, Generation Theatre, Starmaker Theatre and many more. In 1994 he founded award winning drama coaching company Berzerk Productions and spent over twenty five years inspiring young people, giving them confidence and belief in themselves.
Matt passed the Berzerk baton to Aundre Goddard in 2022, he continued his work in local schools and as The Drama Guru, still inspiring people of all ages.
Winner of a Pride of Reading Cultural Contribution Award in 2004, Matt has supported the Awards for many years as one of the Entertainment Directors and Social Media Advisor.
Matt’s nominator wrote “It’s very clear to everyone that Matt Whitelock has been an inspiration to both young and old in Reading throughout the years. Matt has worked tirelessly to bring the arts to the youth of Reading, in both a professional and personal manner. Matt’s work with his company has brought tears, smiles and joy to the youth of Reading over the years, whilst also taking part in many initiatives across Reading to promote the arts to many, from naughty elfs to the promotion of well-being.
The man is a true hero to Reading and young people across the area and this deserves to be awarded! I’m proud to call him a friend and see the “amazing” that he continues to contribute to in the local area!”
