Nominated for Charity of the Year sponsored by Roc Search

Women's organisation Advance are passionate about saving and changing the lives of women and their children experiencing abuse, and women in contact with the criminal justice system.

The organisation, which partners with many different charities and companies throughout a diverse range of sectors, have been nominated for Charity of the Year, sponsored by Roc Search.

Their closest working partner is the probation service which is the route through which the women they support in Reading are referred.

They have close ties to local domestic abuse services in the town, jobcentres, mental health services such as Mental Health Matters, and the NHS RECONNECT service.

They strive to provide the best support available to the women they work with and understand that collaborative work is the best way to achieve this, said their nominator.

“Advance should win a Pride of Reading Award because of many different reasons.”

Winning an award like this would raise their profile and aid their goal in breaking down the judgment and challenge the perceptions that people may have about women who have experienced the criminal justice system, said the nominator.
