Putting Reading on the Map - Kick Twist Cheerleading - Jacobs the Jewellers and The Purple Turtle.
It's three cheers for the competition winning Kick Twist Cheerleading, a cheerleading team based in Reading, which has been nominated for Putting Reading On the Map.
The team consists of 50 girls from the local area aged six to 18. They train once a week, practising lifts, throws, pyramids, dance, tumbling and gymnastics.
This year was their most successful season said their nominator, who added: “We want to celebrate their achievements.”
And achievements they are! They represented Reading at the regional cheerleading championships in March and won, becoming regional champions. They qualified for the National Championships in June and won again, earning the title of 2023 National Champions.
For that, they qualified for the British Championships which took place in July, and won once more. It mean they have won every event they attended this season.
“If that is not putting Reading on the map, then I don’t know what is!” said the nominator.
“We are so proud of their results and how they have represented Reading in such a positive way; and have raised the profile of competitive cheerleading in Reading through their hard work and commitment to the sport.
“Thousands of athletes from across the country and internationally, support and follow Kick Twist Cheerleading and their achievements throughout the season on social media; and they are so proud to be a team from Reading.”
