Smelly Wellies
Nominated for The Inspiration Award sponsored by McDonald’s
A smallholding at Woodcote has been nominated for an Inspiration Award, which has been sponsored for the past four years by McDonalds.
The creators of Smelly Wellies understood the benefits of animal therapy and came up with a care farm dedicated to inclusivity and promoting wellbeing, said the nomination. “They have made such a positive impact on the local community in a remarkably short period of time.
The nominator added: “If you look up the term ‘inspirational people’, it is defined as not only talking about what is important to them, but acting upon it.
“Smelly Wellies recognise that animals can provide learning opportunities, show love and acceptance, and heal.
“Not only are Lorraine and Vikki at Smelly Wellies inspiring, but the animals and visitors are too. They have helped so many people to overcome barriers and find meaning and happiness by providing a safe and calming environment to connect with the animals. They work hard to ensure that every visitor has an experience tailored to their needs and oriented to their goals.”
The nominator said: “Smelly Wellies is an inspired concept, run by people who dedicate their time to caring for rescued and re-homed animals as well as to facilitating an environment where people can be themselves without judgment.”
