Jelly
Special Recognition Award sponsored by Vale & West
Arts collective Jelly, which has been running in Reading for 30 years, won this year’s Special Recognition award.
Founder Suzanne Stallard was praised in a video at the awards. A Jelly member said: “Jelly is an absolute team but there is one person who has held Jelly together for 30 years and that is Suzanne. I am deeply grateful to her.”
Suzanne said the collective has worked with The Oracle, Broad Street Mall, Reading Borough Council and almost everyone over the years.
She said she had only intended to stay in Reading for six months then “go off to London, but it was a brilliant community and once you start something it takes on a life of its own”.
The arts group was described as edgy but balanced enough to adapt to what the people of Reading need.
